gaMPT was founded in 1998 by 5 physicists of the Biophysical Institute of the Medical Faculty of the Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg. The company was first located in Halle. Because of an increasing number of projects and employees the company moved in 2003 to Zappendorf.

The close connection between the company name and the name of the institute is no accident. The research focus at the institute is ultrasonic imaging. The first products and experiments were developed out of their research. Real student experiences are still used for the creation and development of new experiments and devices. The development and production of ultrasonic equipment for lab and education is one of the company's main areas.
